Question 1

Who is Generations Sports Performance built for?

Accepted Answer

Serious athletes who want to train with purpose — and parents of athletes who are done with programs that treat every kid the same. We work with athletes across all sports and all levels, from youth high performance through high school and university. If you're competing at a high level, or working toward one, this is the right environment.

Question 2

What age groups do you train?

Accepted Answer

We work with athletes across a wide range — from motivated youth athletes (typically 10 and up) through high school and university levels. The right age for performance training depends less on the number and more on whether the athlete is ready to work with purpose.

Question 3

Can beginners join — or is this only for elite athletes?

Accepted Answer

The programming is elite. The door isn't closed to athletes who are earlier in their development. If you're genuinely committed to improving, there's a place for you here. What matters is attitude and effort — not current level. That said, this facility is designed around performance outcomes, not introductory fitness. If you're looking for casual recreational fitness, this probably isn't the right fit. If you're an athlete who wants to get serious, it is.

Question 4

What sports do you train?

Accepted Answer

All of them. The strength, speed, power, and movement quality that underpins athletic performance is transferable to virtually any competitive sport. Whatever you play, the programming is built around the specific demands of your sport and position.

Question 5

Do you train teams, or only individual athletes?

Accepted Answer

Both. Individual athletes can book private 1-on-1 sessions or join small group training, and we also offer online coaching for athletes who can't train in person. Coaches and athletic directors can arrange Team Training for their full roster — off-season or in-season blocks, scoped around the team's calendar and physical priorities. Team Training is arranged directly, not through the online booking system.

Question 6

What's the difference between private training and small group training?

Accepted Answer

Private training is 1-on-1 — our full attention on one athlete for the entire session. Every rep, every cue, every adjustment is for you. Small group training keeps groups to a maximum of 6 athletes training together. You still receive real coaching attention and programming built for your goals — but you're also training alongside other athletes, which creates a competitive energy that many athletes respond well to. Private training produces the fastest individual results. Small group training is more accessible, still high quality, and often preferred by athletes who perform better with competition in the room.

Question 7

Do you offer online or remote coaching?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Online coaching delivers the same individualized approach remotely — a program built around your sport, age, and goals, delivered through a training app with regular check-ins and direct access to your coach. It's ideal for athletes who can't train in person but still want structured, personalized programming.

Question 8

Are programs built from a template, or is everything custom?

Accepted Answer

There's no template. Every program starts with understanding the athlete — their sport, their age, their position, where they are in their competitive season, and what physical qualities are limiting their performance. For athletes who complete formal testing first, the program is built directly from the data. For athletes who come in without testing, we use movement screening and session observation in the early sessions to dial in the programming. Generic programs are built for generic athletes. Yours won't be.

Question 9

How long are sessions?

Accepted Answer

Individual and small group training sessions are typically 60 minutes. Sessions are structured — a warm-up protocol, a main training block, and a brief cool-down or mobility finish. Nothing is wasted.

Question 10

What should I wear and bring?

Accepted Answer

Athletic clothing appropriate for training — shorts or athletic pants, a t-shirt or performance top, and clean indoor training shoes. The shoes you wear outside should stay outside. Bring water. Everything else you need is at the facility.

Question 11

How do I book a training session?

Accepted Answer

Most training sessions and packages are booked through JaneApp — our online booking system. You can book a single session or purchase a package (10 or 20 sessions) directly through the booking link on this site. For Team Training, online coaching, or Combine and Testing registration, contact us directly by phone or email — those aren't available through online booking.

Question 12

Do I need to commit to a package, or can I try a single session first?

Accepted Answer

You can book a single session first — a good way to experience the environment and coaching before committing to a package. That said, real athletic development is a long-term process — packages (10 or 20 sessions) offer a better per-session rate and give athletes the consistency and time needed to build lasting, measurable progress.

Question 13

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Accepted Answer

Cancellation and rescheduling policies are managed through JaneApp. Your booking confirmation will include the full policy details. If you have a specific situation outside the standard policy, reach out directly — we handle these conversations personally.

Question 14

When can I train?

Accepted Answer

Training is available Monday through Saturday, scheduled by appointment so we can build sessions around your availability. Reach out or book online and we'll find a time that works.

Question 15

Is there parking at the facility?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Parking is available on site at 618 South Pelham Road, Welland.

Question 16

What is a Combine or Testing session?

Accepted Answer

A structured athletic testing session using VALD ForceDecks (force plates) and HumanTrak (3D motion capture) to measure an athlete's physical profile. Strength, power, explosiveness, asymmetry, mobility, and movement quality — the full picture of where you stand physically, measured objectively. Athletes receive their results and our priority recommendations for their training. The full Testing and Combine page explains the process in detail.

Question 17

How is a Combine or Testing session different from a regular training session?

Accepted Answer

A training session is about doing the work — building strength, speed, and power over time. A testing session is about measurement — establishing where you actually stand so that all future training is aimed at the right targets, and giving you a baseline to track progress against over time. They're designed to work together: test first, train with precision, then retest to measure how far you've come. You can complete testing without committing to ongoing training, but athletes who do both develop faster because their programming is built on real data.

Question 18

How do I register for a Combine or Testing session?

Accepted Answer

Contact us directly by phone (905-359-9785) or email (mdimaurizio@generationsphysiotherapy.com). Registration is handled directly, not through JaneApp — just reach out to book your session.

Question 19

Who should consider testing — is it only for elite athletes?

Accepted Answer

Testing is valuable for any serious athlete. For some, it establishes a baseline before they start training so every session is aimed at the right targets from day one. For others, it's about making sure existing training is actually working. It's particularly useful for athletes approaching a tryout or combine, athletes returning from injury who need objective data, and athletes who have plateaued and can't identify why. You don't need to be elite — you need to be serious and ready to act on what the data tells you.

Question 20

Where is Generations Sports Performance located?

Accepted Answer

618 South Pelham Road, Welland, Ontario. We serve athletes from across the Niagara region.

Question 21

What equipment does the facility have?

Accepted Answer

The facility is fully equipped for comprehensive strength, speed, and power development — squat racks, free weights, barbells, dumbbells, assault bikes, a dedicated strip of turf for sprints and sled work, and much more. Testing equipment includes VALD ForceDecks (force plates) and HumanTrak (3D motion capture). Everything here is for performance.

Question 22

Is this the same as Generations Physiotherapy?

Accepted Answer

Generations Sports Performance operates out of the same building as Generations Physiotherapy, but it is a dedicated sports performance training program, not a physio clinic. If an athlete is recovering from an injury and requires both physiotherapy and performance training, the proximity is a genuine advantage — but the two programs are distinct.
